eSafety Office Guides to the Big Issues

The Office of the eSafety Commissioner has updated their tips and advice for parents and carers to help them understand the top online safety issues that their children may have to deal with.

They are:

Cyberbullying – Understand the risks and how to support your child if they are being bullied online.

Online Pornography – What to do if you are worried about your child being exposed to pornography.

Nudes & Sexting – How to talk to your child and give them advice about sharing intimate images and messages.

Time Online – Managing Screen time and setting age appropriate boundaries.

Gaming – Be aware of the risks so your child can enjoy the benefits of playing online games.

Unwanted Contact & Grooming – Help your child with contact that makes them uncomfortable or puts them at risk.

The advice is practical and based on research undertaken by the eSafety Office,  respected organisations or individual researchers. There are also links to guide parents who want to report an incident or take further action.

Family Insights has written extensively about each of these issues, which provide further insights and advice.
