As Netflix is a DVD rental and Internet based video-on-demand service specific to the region of each user, it does not allow devices that are running a VPN to use its app.
The Family Insights App, when in child monitoring mode, uses a VPN to gather data from the child’s device. This will interfere with Netflix because of it’s ‘no VPN’ policy. This is an external factor to the Family Insights App.
However, if a parent/guardian would like their child to be able to access Netflix, this can be done by switching the child’s device from child monitoring to parental control. This disconnects the VPN (meaning no monitoring will happen during this time) and Netflix will allow access to its app.
Note: switching a child’s device from child monitoring to parental control stops the Family Insights App from collecting the data of the child’s device. This can impact the accuracy of real-time monitoring for the time that the VPN is disconnected. Once the VPN is reconnected, by switching the child’s device back to child monitoring, this data collection will return to normal.
